Wholesale
Information and Policies....
We
are a small grower who prefers to cater to Retail clients from
mid-October through May. We do sell the plants grown here at the
farm on a wholesale basis to Garden Centers in Western North Carolina
or to Florida customers who meet the following criteria:
To be considered
for wholesale prices you must have a firm grasp of both botanical & common
plant names. You must also be able to visually identify the plants
you are requesting and complete a Wholesale Application in
our office.
If you talk on your
cell phone or radio, you MUST remain in your vehicle. We are not interested
in hearing what should be private conversations.
You MUST charge your
client a FULL RETAIL MARKUP on plants that you purchase from Shadowood.
Lawn Maintenance and Installation Firms who pass on their Wholesale
discount to customers HURT OUR INDUSTRY and THREATEN THE LIVELIHOOD
OF EVERY GROWER!!! Ours is one of the few “markets” where
our Wholesale Prices have decreased in the past 15 years, while our
production costs have skyrocketed! Most Growers are struggling to make
ends meet. Those of you that “low ball” your pricing or
are stupid enough to let a customer con you into to selling to them
at Cost are NOT welcome here.
It is up to you to
know what you are looking for and to familiarize yourself with our
plants. Study on your own time, don’t expect us to educate you.
If you don’t have a firm grasp of basic horticulture, find a
new job. If you take up time with our sales people (other than for
loading your order and payment), if you ask what we consider to be
too many questions - you will be considered a Retail Customer.
You must be an active
Landscape Architect, Landscape Installation Firm or Nursery with an
active Martin County Business License and have a reputation for performing
good work. We must have a copy of that license on file. If we’ve
heard that you don’t pay your bills or don’t take good
care of your clients - we will not sell to you. We DO
NOT sell wholesale to Building Contractors or Homeowner Associations
who are trying to cut the Landscape Contractor out of the financial
equation. This also hurts our industry!
You are welcome to
bring your clients here to the Farm to discuss YOUR plant choices with
them; however, we will NOT make ourselves available to answer questions
YOUR client may have. Your client - YOUR responsibility to provide
them with answers (unless you want to pay retail)!
Payment for all sales
to Wholesale Clients are “Due Upon Receipt”. We do not
extend credit but will accept Visa & Master Card for an additional
3% of total invoice.
If you call and ask us to “pull” an order for you, there
will be a $45.00 restocking fee if you don’t show up to get your
plants when you say that you will.
In order for Florida
customers to be exempt from paying Sales & Use Tax, you must fill
out a Blanket Certificate and provide us with a copy of your original
Sales Tax Registration Form each year.
