Our growing season at the farm runs from October through April. Classes and Workshops for home gardeners will begin in mid-September. Shadowood grown produce will be ready for sale in early November. We'll be updating our Supporting Member information in August.
Eating Local Food
If you are ready to make a commitment to local food, then you must also understand that not all foods you might enjoy are ready at the same time. Eating locally means that you plan your meals according to what is ready to be harvested during any given week. The first things we have available in the fall are lettuces, arugula, radishes, baby turnips, Asian greens, and herbs. These will be followed by other greens such as Swiss chard, kale, mustard greens, and collards. And then by mid-November, we really start to get more variety: things like beans, broccoli raab, snow peas, sugar snap peas, scallions, carrots, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes become available. As the season progresses, so do the foods we offer. Unless we have serious weather events, by December our choices are many!
